The cruncher is one of my favourite nymphs, it works wherever it’s used and is an ideal middle dropper fly between two lures. Fish love them on the hang, on the drop or through the retrieve, just find the level. It’s a fly which  takes pride in my nymph box and has many variations. One of my ‘all time favourites’ is the standard cruncher, no bling or changes, a bog standard cruncher.

Below is a variant and one of my most successful patterns, it’s great when the olives are around and will take fish in all guises. Have a play around!
